MAKING ROOM FOR THE CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS (Dec 16)
Revelation 3:20- “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.”
1.  MAKING ROOM FOR CHRIST IS REJECTED BY THE   _________________.
Luke 2:7- “She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
John 1:10-11, II Timothy 3:1-5, James 4:1-5, and I John 2:15-17.  Jesus Christ was rejected at his birth, in his life and death, and He still is being rejected by humanity! Pride, prejudice, politics, pleasure, people, and possessions all crowd him out so there is no room for him!  What is crowding Christ out of your heart today? Revelation 3:14-21
2.  MAKING ROOM FOR CHRIST TAKES ___________________.
Luke 9:23-24- “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it.”
Jeremiah 29:11-13, Matthew 2:1-12, & Luke 9:23-24, 10:38-42.  Making room for Christ is painful. Our pride must be denied. We must be willing to prepare and change our plans in order to get in line with His plan! Think of what Joseph and Mary went through in order to make room for Christ in their lives! How about the Magi?  How far are you willing to go with Christ? Can you say to Him—anywhere, anything and anytime?  Joseph and Mary said yes. The shepherds said yes to Jesus. Will you say yes to Jesus today and every day? See Luke 1:38 & James 4:7
3.  MAKING ROOM FOR CHRIST IS ______________ IT!
Psalm 34:8- “Taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in him.”
Nothing compares to the greatness of knowing Jesus Christ!  See Philippians 3:7-10 & Luke 2:8-14, 16-20.  Jesus Christ offers beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, peace for despair!
If we asked Joseph & Mary, the shepherds & Wise men if it was worth it, I think we know what they would say! Jesus is the pearl of great price!!!  We will never know how good He truly is unless we taste and trust Him every day of our lives!
ANSWERS: WORLD, WORK & WORTH

THE INFLUENCE AND IMPACT OF MUSIC (Dec 9th)
KEY VERSE: Colossians 3:16- “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.”
1. MUSIC IS ONE OF GOD’S GREATEST ________________
James 1:17- “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights…”
Can you imagine our world without music? God loves music and gave it to us to greatly bless our lives.
William Congreve, an 18th century English dramatist said, “Music has charms to soothe the savage beast, to soften rocks, to bend a knotted oak.”
2. MUSIC IS POWERFUL AND GREATLY AFFECTS OUR _______________________.
Read I Samuel 16:14-23 & II Samuel 6
Think of how powerful music truly is? It calmed crazed Saul and it motivated King David to dance
before God and the people of God with all his might. Music is used as therapy for many hurting people.
In some hospitals and care facilities music is used for comfort and healing.  In great contrast, evil music has led to horrific acts of evil.
 3. WE MUST DEVELOP HEALTHY____________________  WHEN LISTENING TO AND PLAYING MUSIC.
I Corinthians 10:23, 31- “Everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Read Philippians 4:8 & Psalm 149-150.  What kind of music do you listen to? Is it positive and uplifting? Does it honor God and others? Lyrics are so very powerful and what we think about it greatly transforms our lives!  Is music a tool or trap in your life?  Read Philippians 4:8 & Psalm 149-150.
What kind of music do you listen to? Is it positive and uplifting? Does it honor God and others? Lyrics are so very powerful and what we think about it greatly transforms our lives!  Is music a tool or trap in your life?
ANSWERS: BLESSINGS, BEHAVIOR, & BOUNDARIES

POINTS TO PONDER FROM THE CHRISTMAS STORY (Dec 10th) KEY VERSE: Luke 2:19- “But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
1. GOD ALWAYS KEEPS HIS __________________________!
Read Matthew 1:18-2:12, Luke 1:26-34, 2:1-7, 25-32, & Titus 1:1-2
Numbers 23:19- “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change his mind. Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?”
HOW DOES KNOWING GOD CAN’T LIE OR BREAK HIS PROMISES AFFECT YOUR FAITH IN HIM?
2. WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE ______________________!
Luke 1:37- “For nothing is impossible with God.”  Luke 18:27- “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”  The incredible birth of John the Baptist and the inconceivable virgin birth of Jesus Christ prove that our God specializes in things thought impossible! WHAT SEEMS IMPOSSIBLE TO YOU RIGHT NOW? Remember that God is a specialist in the impossible. Is anything too hard for Him?
3. GOD USES HUMBLE, TRUSTING, AND OBEDIENT __________________ IN HIS PLAN! See Luke 1:5-7, 2:8-20, 36-40.
Ephesians 2:10— “For we are God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  God uses people who are submissive, not stubborn. People who are pliable and not proud. He wants availability more than ability!
Daily we should say to God- “Here am I Lord, use me!”
4. GOD WANTS US TO LEARN TO _________________HIS WORD!
Joshua 1:8, Job 23:12, Psalm 119:11, 97, 165, Romans 12:1-2 & Colossians 3:16
God wants us to read His Word, remember His Word, reflect on His Word, respect His Word, and fully rely on His Word!  HOW DO I TREAT GOD’S WORD? Do I treasure it like Job did? See Job 23:12
5. GOD WANTS US TO SING HIS ________________ALL OUR DAYS!
Read Luke 1:39-46, 67-68, 2:13-14, 20.
Psalm 34:1- “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be on my lips.
Am I lifting the Lord up with my life and lips?  Am I preoccupied with God and promoting Him daily?
Do I desire God and delight in Him? The Westminster Confession of Faith states “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.” What is my main purpose in life?
ANSWERS: PROMISES, POSSIBLE, PEOPLE,PONDER & PRAISE

CHILDLIKENESS IS CHRISTLIKENESS! (Sat Dec 1st)
KEY VERSE: Matthew 18:4- “Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”
1. LITTLE CHILDREN ARE VERY _____________________.
Hebrews 11:6- “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”  Luke 18:17- “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”  Someone said, “Little faith will bring your soul to heaven, but great faith will bring heaven to your soul.”  We can have great faith because our great God is forever faithful!  II Timothy 1:12, 2:13.  National research by the Barna Research Group has found that the highest percentage of people who accept Christ do so before age 13.
2. LITTLE CHILDREN ARE VERY ________________________.
James 4:6- “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
Psalm 25:9- “He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”
Look up Matthew 11:25-30.  Children by nature are very humble and teachable. They ask lots of good questions and listen better than most adults! What is God trying to teach me in my life right now?
AM I A TEACHABLE PERSON? AM I A GOOD LISTENER?
3. LITTLE CHILDREN ARE VERY _______________________.
Romans 16:19- “I want you to be wise about good, and innocent about evil.”
II Corinthians 11:3- “I fear that somehow you will be led away from your pure and simple devotion to Christ.”  Children are the real deal! They don’t put on a show. They tell it like it is. What you see is what you get! Seldom do you find a child hypocrite. They usually learn that from us adults!
AM I TRANSPARENT AND TRUTHFUL? WHERE DO I NEED TO BE MORE GENUINE?
 4. LITTLE CHILDREN ________________DIFFERENTLY!
Proverbs 29:18- “Where there is no vision the people perish.”  Proverbs 17:22- “A cheerful heart is good medicine.”  Nehemiah 8:10- “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Research has found that young children dream more, create more and laugh more than most adults!
What a wonder of wonders that our Creator became a child through the virgin birth to become our mighty and merciful Savior! Just think, He truly knows how we feel in our humanity.  See Hebrews 2:14-18, 4:14-16.  AS I GROW OLDER  AM I BECOMING MORE CHILDISH OR CHILDLIKE?
ANSWERS: TRUSTING, TEACHABLE, TRANSPARENT, & THINK

HIS NAME IS WONDERFUL! (Dec 2nd)
TEXT: ISAIAH 9:6-7
I.    CHRIST CHOSE TO COME TO US AS A LOWLY LITTLE________________.
Isaiah 9:6- “For to us a child is born,”  Matthew 1:23- “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call his name Immanuel—which means, ‘God with us’.”  This is what Theologians call the “Incarnation.” The Infinite One became an infant! The Holy One became the homeless one! God became human in the person of Jesus Christ– the God-Man!
John 1:1-16, Philippians 2:5-11, Hebrews 2:9-18, 4:15-16.  Jesus is God spelling Himself out in a way we understand! No one understands us like Jesus.
II.   CHRIST CAME TO BE OUR ____________________IN CHIEF.
Isaiah 9:6- “And the government will be on his shoulders.”  Luke 1:26-33, Romans 11:33-12:2, Colossians 1:15-18.  Jesus Christ alone has the right to rule and reign in our hearts. He alone is sufficient to lead and guide us. He has eternal experience and wonderful wisdom that leads to perfect peace if we submit to His control. We either surrender to Christ or chaos!  The word “Lord” is used over 700 times in the NT while the word “Savior” is mentioned between 20-30 times.  Where do I need to surrender to His Lordship? Why do I struggle surrendering to Him? Do I delight in serving Him?
III.   CHRIST CAME TO BE OUR _______________________IN EVERYTHING!
“And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”  The verse could be translated, “And He will be called, Marvelous Miracle, Champion God– Hero, Forever Faithful Father, Perfect Prince of Peace!”  Romans 8:37, Philippians 4:13 & II Peter 1:3-11.  Will I trust Him to enable me to be more than a conqueror in life?  He alone will never fail or forsake me!  Is Jesus Christ the source of my salvation, significance, strength, security and satisfaction in life?

ANSWERS: CHILD, COMMANDER & CHAMPION

Luke 5:15-16— “Yet the news spread about Him all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."  Do I realize that getting adequate rest is just as much a part of obeying God as hard work is?

Isaiah 30:15-18, 40:31, 58:13-14.  The word for recreation literally means to “re-create.” If we are all work & no play we will find it harder to pray!
REST & RELAXATION TAKE ________________________.
The Hebrew word for Sabbath means to take an intermission.  Psalm 46:10— “Cease striving and know that I am God.”  Learn to take time outs every day to sit still and smell the roses so to speak.
Learn to say no more often without feeling guilty.  Learn to choose what is best over what is good.
Learn to take naps, sleep longer, deep breathe, laugh & exercise more often to cultivate a relaxed attitude toward life.  Remember that we are human beings not human doings!!!  Oswald Chambers said, “We should take 1 out of every 60 minutes to abide in Christ.”
