THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD ABOUT GRACE
 Luke 15 (Sat July 20th)
  1. THE YOUNGER SON WAS SELFISH, ________________ AND TOOK EVERYTHING HE HAD FOR GRANTED!
Jeremiah 17:9— “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” (NKJV)  Luke 15:11-13, Mark 7:21-23, Romans 1:21-32, Colossians 3:5-6, Proverbs 14:12.
This young man was discontented, disrespectful, deceived and headed for a dead end road! We have all been there!!!  When we realize how good God is and that it will never pay to disobey? Am I being wild and wasteful in my life? Sin will give you a party, but you will have a big price to pay for it!
2. THE OLDER SON WAS SELF-RIGHTEOUS, JUDGMENTAL AND DIDN’T ___________GRACE!
Hebrews 12:15— “See to it that no one misses the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.”  Luke 15:1-2, 25-32 & Luke 18:9-14.
Do I look down on others in self-righteous pride? Do I realize that if it were not for the grace of God, there go I? The older son was just as lost, only he did not see it.  Why am I serving God? Am I trying to earn His favor or do I serve Him out of gratitude for His amazing grace?  Is there a bitter root in my life producing bitter fruit?
3. THE FATHER IS SO _________________IN GRACE, GENEROSITY, PATIENCE AND
FORGIVENESS!!!
Romans 5:8— “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”  Luke 15:20-24, 31-32, Titus 3:3-7 & Romans 12:1-2.
The Father is mentioned 12 times in 20 verses!  Our loving heavenly Father has a huge heart for the hurting and hopeless ones. He loves the prodigals as well as those who don’t realize they have strayed too!  The Father waits to rescue, reconcile and restore us in His matchless and amazing grace!
God gives grace to the younger and the older. No one is past redemption. No one is past grace. All God wants is for the rebellious and the religious to come to the party!  Why would I ever want to wander from Him? Can God really be like the Father in this story? You betcha!!!
Answers:  GREEDY, GRASP & GREAT.

GLIMPSE INTO GLORY—REVELATION 4 (Sun July 21st)
1.   THE _______________________OF GOD (verses 1-3)
Psalm 103:19- “The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all.”  Psalm 2, Isaiah 9:6, Acts 17:24-28 & Romans 8:28-30
God is the sovereign hand behind the headlines. History always has been & always will be His-Story!  Do I trust His leadership? Am I submitting to it? Do I believe that when we trust the sovereignty of Heaven more we fear the calamities of earth less?  Am I thankful His throne is a throne of grace? Hebrews 4:16  The word “Throne is used 45 times in the book of Revelation, 14 times here in
chapter 4
2.   THE ______________AND GREATNESS OF OUR GOD!
Revelation 15:3-4- “Great and marvelous are Your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the ages. Who will not fear You, O Lord and bring glory to your name? For You alone are holy.”  Revelation 4:3-8, Isaiah 6:1-8, 57:15 & 66:1-2
A.W.Tozer said “What comes into our mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”  God alone is perfect, all powerful & everywhere present!  Do I see the Lord as He really is? Am I amazed and in awe of His presence? HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD!!!
3.   THE _______________OF ALL CREATION (verses 9-11)
Revelation 4:11— “You are worthy, our Lord & God to receive glory and honor and power…”  Exodus 20:3-4, Jonah 2:8 & Romans 1:25.
Am I worshiping the only worthy One or am I buying into the lie of worshiping worthless things? Is my main purpose to glorify God and enjoy Him forever?
4.   THE HEAVENLY _______________WE WILL ONE DAY EXPERIENCE
(Rev 3:11, 21 & 4:4,9-10).  II Timothy 4:7-8- “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…” I Corinthians 3:10-15, 9:24-27, II Corinthians 5:9-11
Do I realize that there are eternal consequences to the daily earthly choices I make? Am I living a life that God will reward? Am I storing up treasure in Heaven?
Answers:  GOVERNMENT, GLORY, GOAL, & GAIN.

LOVE HAS NO “I” IN IT! (Sat July 6th)
I CORINTHIANS 13
1.  LOVE IS NOT MOTIVATED BY SELFISH __________________ OR SEEKING ITS OWN AGENDA.
I Corinthians 13:4-5—“Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking…”
The Greek word for envy is “Zeloo” which means a person who is radically consumed with his own desires and plans.Am I so bent on getting my own way that I am willing to sacrifice anything or anyone to get it? See James 3:13-4:3Am I impatient and demanding of others? Signs of the times—II Timothy 3:1-5
2. LOVE IS NOT ______________________ OR FULL OF AN AIR OF SUPERIORITY.
The word “Boast” means a lot of self-talk, one who endlessly promotes himself. One Greek scholar
said it pictures a person full of hot air—a pompous windbag.  Proverbs 18:2— “A fool finds no pleasure
in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.”See Proverbs 27:1-2
Does my walk match my talk? See I Corinthians 4:7,18-20.  The Greek word for Proud is “Phusio” which means to be swollen, puffed up or inflated. Do I have a healthy or unhealthy view of myself? See Romans 12:3, John 15:5 & Philippians 4:13 Bad EGO—Edging God Out. Good EGO– Exalting God Only.
3. LOVE IS AWARE OF GOD AND OTHERS AND HAS THE ____________________OF CHRIST.
Philippians 2:3-5— “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others
better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.”
Do I have a genuine interest in the well-being of Others? Can I rejoice when they are blessed more than Me? Am I willing to serve and to change in order to meet the needs of others? Do I become what others need me to be, or do I demand that others be like me? Do I realize the power of kindness?
ANSWERS: AMBITION, ARROGANT & ATTITUDE

CHRIST’S CHALLENGE TO HIS CHURCH - Rev 3
(Sun July 7th)
CHRIST’S CHALLENGE TO HIS CHURCH– revelation 3
1. CHURCH AT SARDIS: THIS CHURCH HAD A GOOD PROFESSION, BUT LACKED THE _______________OF GOD!  Revelation 3:1-6, John 6:63, Romans 8 & Galatians 5:16-26
Acts 9:31- “Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Spirit, grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.”
There was no word of praise for this dying church. They looked good on the outside but had serious issues on the inside.  We cannot live the Christian live without the life giving power of the Holy Spirit. Am I daily letting Him lead & live through me? Where am I grieving or putting out His fire?
2. CHURCH AT PHILADELPHIA: THIS CHURCH HAD GREAT______________________ AND PROMISE.  Revelation 3:7-13, Acts 16:6-15 & I Corinthians 16:9
Revelation 3:8- “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut.”
Do we see the great open doors of ministry God places before us as individuals and as a church body? Ephesians 2:10.  Do we really believe what Christ said about the harvest being plentiful? See Matthew 9:35-38. Am I willing to labor in his fields?  Notice the powerful promise in Rev 3:10-11.
3. CHURCH AT LAODICEA: THIS WAS A ________________ CHURCH THAT MADE JESUS WANT TO PUKE!!
Revelation 3:14-21. The word “lukewarm” is used only here in the New Testament. These believers were halfhearted in the walk with the Lord. They thought they were rich & didn’t need a thing—Jesus said they were poor, wretched, blind & naked! How easily we are deceived. How would Jesus describe me and us at FBC?
In the Bible there are three types of heart temperatures—the burning heart—Luke 24:32, the cold heart—Matthew 24:12 and the Lukewarm heart here. What is my heart’s temperature toward the Lord? The only cure for a Lukewarm heart is the readmission of the excluded Christ! Will I acknowledge & include Him in all I do?
ANSWERS:  POWER. POTENTIAL & PROUD

THE MOST EXCELLENT WAY (Sat June 29th)
TEXT: I CORINTHIANS 13
I. LOVE ___________UP ALL THE COMMANDS OF SCRIPTURE.
Galatians 5:14- “The entire law is summed up in a single command; Love you neighbor as yourself.” See Matthew 22:35-40.
All ten commandments deal with relationships—Loving God supremely and loving others sacrificially.
Have I missed the main message of the Bible? Life truly is all about love!
II. LOVE IS TO BE THE _____________AND STANDARD OF ALL WE DO!
I Corinthians 16:14- “Do everything in love.”
According to I Corinthians 13:1-3, I am nothing and gain nothing if I am not motivated by His love! What truly motivates me?  Do I sincerely love others or am I using them for my own selfish gain?
God’s math—LIFE-LOVE= NOTHING
III. LOVE WILL ____________THE TEST OF TIME.
I Corinthians 13:8a—”Love never fails.”  I Corinthians 13:13- “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
Love leaves a legacy. How we treat other people is the most enduring impact we can make on earth—see Matthew 25:31-46. People don’t care how much we know, they want to see how much we truly care?
Do I really believe loving God and others is the greatest thing I can do in life?
IV. OUR _____________GAVE US THE GREATEST EXAMPLE OF LOVE AND HE CAN EMPOWER US TO LOVE!
I John 3:16- “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.”  See also I John 4:7-10, 18-19
Have you received the perfect love of Christ that can drive out all fear? Am I daily drinking from this fountain of love?  Am I looking for lasting love in all the wrong places? John 7:37-38 Jeremiah 2:13, 17:13-14, & Ephesians 3:16-19.  Are you a channel of blessing for Christ’s love to flow through?
Closing Quote: Dr. Karl Menninger said, “Love cures people; both those who give it and those who receive it.”
ANSWERS: SUMS, SOURCE, STAND, & SAVIOR

CHRIST’S CHALLENGE TO HIS CHURCH—REV 2
(Sun June 30th)
1. JESUS CHRIST IS THE _____________OF HIS CHURCH AND CARES DEEPLY ABOUT WHAT GOES ON IN IT!
Colossians 1:18— “He is the head of the body, the Church; He is the beginning and firstborn among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy.”
Do we share Christ’s concern for His church? He commends what is good and seeks to correct what is wrong.  Why do we often ignore the necessity of repentance in our daily walk with God? See Revelation 3:19.  Are we hearing what the Spirit is saying to His Church?
2. LESSON FROM EPHESUS: WORK HARD, BUT DON’T LOSE YOUR ____________OF LOVE FOR GOD & OTHERS.
Revelation 2:4— “Yet I hold this against you; You have forsaken the love you had at first.” Cf. Revelation 2:1-7
These believers at Ephesus were determined, disciplined and discerning, yet they were serving more out of duty than delight. Is that true of us?  Is love the main motivation behind all we do? Ask God to restore your first love for Him, others and His great work!!!
3. LESSON FROM SMYRNA: CHRISTIANS WILL FACE EXTREMELY ____________TIMES, BUT CHRIST WILL REWARD THEM IF THEY HOLD ON TO THEIR FAITH IN HIM.
Revelation 2:10- “Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life.”  See Matthew 5:10-12, John 16:33 & Hebrews 12:1-2
If the world hated Christ it will hate us too if we truly take a stand for Him! There is a cross to carry before the crown. The Christian life is much about persevering through hardship and having staying power.
4. LESSON FROM PERGAMUM & THYATIRA: DON’T COMPROMISE IN ANY WAY, BUT BE _______________IN ALL YOU DO!
James 4:4-- “You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God?”  Revelation 2:12-29, I Peter 1:13-16 & I John 2:15-17.
Who or what has started to draw my affection away from Christ?  Our society may be soft on sin, but our Savior isn’t! He hates sin and so should we.  Do we really believe we reap what we sow? Galatians 6:7.  Where do I need to repent and turn back to Christ? Do I believe holiness leads to happiness and healthiness?
ANSWERS:  HEAD, HEART, HARD, & HOLY

SPIRITUAL WARFARE 101 (June 29)
TEXT: Ephesians 6:10-20
1. THE MAIN BATTLE IS BEHIND THE _______________IN THE HEAVENLY SPIRITUAL
REALM.  Ephesians 6:12— “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”  Genesis 3:1-6, Job 1-2, I Peter 5:8 & Revelation 12:7-12.  Do we realize the serious nature of our daily warfare?  “Why do I believe in the Devil?” - For three reasons — Because the Bible plainly says he exists. Because I see his works everywhere. Because great scholars have recognized his existence”. (Billy Graham: This Week, March 2,1958)
2. OUR ENEMY IS STRONG, SLANDEROUS & ________________.  John 10:10— “The thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy.”  John 8:44, II Corinthians 11:14, & Ephesians 6:11
Our enemy is tireless, tactful, tricky and committed to tripping us up and even torturing us if possible— Mark 9:14-29.  Our goal is to be alert and aware of his evil schemes!  His main area of attack is our minds—II Corinthians 10:1-5.  He seeks to isolate us from God & others. He wants to deceive, distract, discourage and ultimately to devour us.
3. WE CAN BE _____________IN THE LORD AS WE USE THE ARMOR HE HAS GIVEN US.
Ephesians 6:10-12—“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”  We have the strength of His presence, the shield of His protection, the sword of His promises and the supernatural power of prayer—Ephesians 6:13-20. Satan does not fear our preaching, personalities and programs, but he trembles when we humbly pray!
Revelation 12:11— “They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the by the word of their testimony.”  Romans 8:37-39, I John 4:4 and Colossians 2:15.  We not only can win in this daily warfare, but, in Christ Jesus and because of what He has done, we can be super victors!

ANSWERS: SCENES, SNEAKY & STRONG

THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST—REV 1 (June 30)
1. THE _________________ AND PURPOSE OF THIS BOOK.
Revelation 1:1- “The revelation of Jesus Christ…”
Greek word for revelation is “Apokalupsis” meaning “uncovering, unveiling or revealing.”  It is a book about Him and by Him! He is the author and subject of the book.  All Scripture is about Him - see Luke 24:44-49 & John 5:38-40.  Do I study Scripture as a means to know more about Him or in order to know Him more intimately?  Revelation reveals who Jesus is, what He is doing and what He will do in the future!
2. THE _________________ THAT READING, REFLECTING AND RESPONDING TO THIS BOOK BRINGS.
Revelation 1:3 — “Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.”
Reading and obeying God’s Word is encouraged throughout all of Scripture—Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1, & James 1:21-25, but here in this verse, there is a special promise regarding this particular Book!
There are 7 blessings promised in this book-1:3, 14:13, 16:15, 19:9, 20:6, 22:7, 22:14.  Louis Talbot said, “The more you study the book of Revelation, the more you understand why Satan fights so hard to keep us away from the study of it.”
3. THE POWERUL ___________________ OF JESUS CHRIST.
See Revelation 1:4-8, 12-20.  Many see Jesus only as the meek Son of Man, but here He is revealed as the Sovereign, Supreme Savior who sustains all things! He is our Prophet, Priest and King.
Is my view of Him diminished and distorted? Do I reverence and relate to Him as He so richly deserves?
FUN FACTS: Revelation contains more symbols than any other book. The number 7 is used 54 times. 26 times John sees Jesus as the Lamb who was slain for the sins of the world.
ANSWERS: PERSON, PROMISE & PORTRAIT
