THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED (April 14)
TEXT: MATTHEW 7:13-29.
 THE BROAD WAY
THE BROAD WAY OFFERS MANY ________________.
Matthew 7:13- “For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.”
Atheism, Agnosticism, Cynicism, Materialism, Hedonism, and “Anything-goes-ism” are all allowed on the broad road.
YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF ________________________.
If you are looking for popularity and political correctness—this is the road to take! The majority may rule, but the majority is seldom right!
_____________________IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN CHARACTER AND CHRISTLIKENESS—Matthew 7:21-23.
THE ULTIMATE DESTINATION OF THIS ROAD HAS AWFUL___________________.

II Thessalonians 1:8-9- “He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and the majesty of his power.” See Revelation 20:11-15.

This road leads to deception, disappointment, death, & eternal destruction.
THE NARROW WAY
THERE IS ONLY ONE _____________.

John 14:6– “Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” See John 10:9 and Acts 4:12.

THERE IS ONLY ONE SOURCE OF _____________________.
Our faith is only to be in Christ and His cross—See Philippians 3:3-10 and Galatians 6:14.
THE NARROW ROAD IS ALL ABOUT ________________________.
Matthew 7:21, 24- “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father in heaven. Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like the wise man who built his house on the rock.” See also Luke 9:23-24 & Matthew 11:28-30.  Do I love the Lord above all? Am I a life-long learner of Christ?
YOUR DESTINY WILL BE ______________________.
The highway to holiness ultimately leads to eternal happiness in heaven!  Christ will be your constant companion—Matthew 28:18-20.  Christians are your comforting community—Acts 2:42-47.
Your eternal relationship with Christ will lead to eternal reward—Matthew 25:14-46.

THE BLESSING OF BROKENESS (April 15)

 TEXT: THE BOOK OF JOEL
1.   GOD _____________HIS PEOPLE OF HIS WRATH TO COME
Read Joel 1– 2:11, II Thessalonians 1:6-10, Revelation 19-20.
Joel 2:1- “Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on my holy hill. Let all who live in the land tremble, for the day of the Lord is coming. It is close at hand.”
Jesus is gentle and merciful like a lamb, but He is also the Lion of Judah who will come to judge the earth and all who live in it!
2.   GOD WANTS HIS PEOPLE TO ________________UP!
See Joel 1:5, Romans 13:10-14, and Revelation 3:1-6.
Romans 13:11- “The time has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
Because of our sin, mankind tends to slumber and sleep spiritually. Am I awake spiritually or slumbering in my sinful living?
3.   GOD WANTS HIS PEOPLE TO ________________AND WAIL OVER THEIR SIN. Joel 1:5-13, Matthew 5:4, & James 4:8-10.

Joel 2:12-13- “Even now declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”
Am I truly grieved and broken over my sin? Do I realize my sin crucified Christ and breaks the heart of God?
4.   GOD WANTS TO DO _________________________THINGS FOR HIS PEOPLE. See Joel 2:18-32.
God wants to restore his people! Cf. Psalm 23:3.  God wants to revive his people! See Joel 2:28-29, Psalm 85:6.  Jesus will return one day to make everything right!
See Matthew 24:1-44, and II Peter 3:1-13.  Finally, God wants anyone who is willing to have a relationship with him!  Joel 2:32- “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
DO YOU HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD?
ANSWERS: WARNS, WAKE, WEEP, & WONDERFUL

WHY CRITICIZE AND COMPLAIN WHEN YOU CAN CALL ON HIS NAME? (April 7th)
TEXT: Matthew 7:1-12
CRITICIZING, COMPLAINING & ______________________ARE NOT CHRIST-LIKE CHARACTERISTICS.
Philippians 2:14– “Do all things without complaining and arguing.”
Matthew 7:1-5, John 3:17, 8:11, Romans 14 & Titus 3:1-2.  The word for Judge here means “to habitually and hastily criticize and condemn in a harsh manner.”  Someone said “When you throw dirt you always lose ground.”
IF WE __________________OURSELVES FIRST THEN WE WILL SEE CLEARLY ENOUGH TO HELP OTHERS.
Matthew 7:5- “You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, then you will be able to see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.”
See I Corinthians 9:24-27, 11:27-31 & Galatians 6:1-2.  “Be the change you want to see in the world”– Ghandi Am I looking at my brother’s sin through a microscope but looking at my own sin through a telescope?  Am I a stepping stone or stumbling block to others?
THE GREATEST THING WE CAN DO FOR OTHERS IS TO______________________CALL ON CHRIST FOR THEM!
James 5:16- “Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”
I Samuel 12:23, Isaiah 56:7, 62:7-8 & I Timothy 2:1-5.  We are never more like Christ than when we pray for others!  If we want to see real and lasting change in others and ourselves we must learn to persistently and passionately pray.
THE ONLY WAY TO BE CHRIST-LIKE AND ____________IS TO LIVE BY THE GOLDEN RULE.
Matthew 7:12- “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law & Prophets.”
What would happen in our hearts, homes, and in our country if we took this rule seriously in all of our relationships?
ANSWERS: CONDEMNING, CORRECT, CONSISTENTLY, & COOL

GOD’S FAITHFUL LOVE FOR HIS UNFAITHFUL
PEOPLE (April 8th)
TEXT: HOSEA
I. THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD’S PEOPLE
A. They are described as being _____________________.
Look up chapter 1,3, 4:1,10-12, 5:7.
Hosea 6:7- “Like Adam, they have broken the covenant-they were unfaithful to me there.”  Do I realize when I sin and love other things more than God I am committing spiritual adultery? See James 4:4-5

B. They are described as being _______________________.
Read Hosea 11:1-8 and Romans 1:21-32.
I Corinthians 4:7- “What do you have that you did not receive?”
Have I taken God for granted and forgotten how good and great He is? Someone said “He who ha
stopped being thankful has fallen asleep in life? Do we need to take some Thank You Therapy?
C. They are described as being without _______________________
Hosea 4:6- “My people are destroyed from a lack of knowledge.”
Hosea 7:1-11, Ecclesiastes 9:3, Romans 3:10-12 & Hebrews 3:13
Our sin blinds us and then binds us. It hinders us and hardens us. The greatest display of its folly is what our sin did to Christ!
II. THE FOREVER FAITHFUL LOVE OF GOD
A. His love ______________to let us go!
Hosea 11:8- “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel?”
We may run, but we can never hide from God’s unfailing love! God’s goodness & mercy chase us all through our lives-Psalm 23:6 and Romans 8:35-39
B. His love causes Him to ________________us!
Revelation 3:19-“Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest, and repent.” See Hosea 5 & II Timothy 3:16, 4:1-2.  God loves us so much, He will always confront us and discipline us when we fall away from Him. His discipline is proof of His love!
C. His love refines us and should cause us to __________________ fully to Him! See Hosea 6:1-3, 10:12, Acts 3:19 & Revelation 2-3

God more than anything else wants His wandering sheep to return to His loving side! Do I need to make a U-turn in my life? Jesus’ last message to His church was to “repent.”

ANSWERS: UNFAITHFUL, UNGRATEFUL, UNDERSTANDING, REFUSES, REBUKE, & RETURN

CAN’T YOU SEE WHO WALKS WITH YOU? (March 31)
TEXT: LUKE 24:13-35
 I.  WHAT HINDERS US FROM RECOGNIZING CHRIST
     A.  Discouragement and _____________hinder us from realizing he is still there!
See Luke 24:13-17 and Psalm 42.  Discouragement turns our eyes inward. God could be walking next to us, but despair clouds our vision of him.
      B. Unmet expectations and ______________________hinder us from recognizing Christ. Look up Luke 24:18-21. The disciples had erroneously believed Jesus would free them from slavery to Rome. Christ came to bring a greater freedom– from sin, death, and hell!
      C. The biggest hindrance to recognizing Christ is _______________.
Hebrews 3:12-13 “See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
Look at Luke 24:9-11, 25. Have you allowed doubt to callous your heart and cloud your vision of God?
II.  WHAT HELPS US RECOGNIZE CHRIST
     A. Jesus Christ humbly comes to us and ____________himself.
Luke 24:15- “As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along them.”  Compare Matthew 11:25-30. We are totally dependent upon the Lord to reveal himself to us. To see Him, we need Him!
      B. Jesus reveals himself to us through the ____________________.
Luke 24:27- “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.” See also John 5:38-40 & II Timothy 3:15-17.
The Scriptures are the reading glasses that enable us to see the Savior in a real and meaning way!
      C. Jesus powerfully reveals himself through his sacrifice and the Lord’s ________________.
Luke 24:30-31- “When He was at the table with them, He took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Him…”
There is nothing that ignites more fire in the faith of His followers than the supreme sacrifice of our all-sufficient SAVIOR!  As we humbly remember Him, He heartily reveals Himself to us.

THE CORNERSTONE OF CHRISTIANITY ( April 1)

Henry Morris said— “The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the crowning proof of Christianity.  Everything rises or falls here. Either Christ is a liar, lunatic or Lord.

Another validation of the resurrection is the eyewitness _________________of over 500 people-

Start really living in a brave and _______________manner!
I Corinthians 15:55-58- “Where O death is your victory? Where O grave is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”  Do I have the confidence only Christ can give me in living life and facing death? Will I give myself fully to the work of the Lord?
Finally, let the resurrection of Christ change your ___________________________
Romans 6:4— “Just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”  Ephesians 1:17-21 & Matthew 28:18-20 & Philippians 3:7-14
We are no longer victims but victors! It is no longer I but Christ. It is no longer selfishness but servant hood! No longer my will but Thy will be done!  Am I living daily in His resurrection power? If not, why not?  POINT TO PONDER: The resurrection is God the Father's Amen to Christ’s statement “It is finished.”
