THE GOD WHO IS All about LIFE AND LOVE (Saturday, July 14th)
TEXT: GENESIS 1 & 2
GOD SUPERNATURALLY ______________EVERYTHING INTO EXISTENCE IN
SIX LITERAL DAYS.
Psalm 33:8-9- “Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world revere Him. For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm.”
Genesis 1:3,6,11,14,20, 26-27, 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8-11.  Do we stand in awe of God’s greatness and goodness?  Do we honor Him as God and worship Him properly?
GOD’S CREATION IS VERY SPECIAL & HE WANTS US TO BE GOOD_____________OF IT ALL.
Psalm 24:1- “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.”
Genesis 1:4,10,12, 25-31, 2:7-8,15, Psalm 139:14.  Do we treasure His creation or trash it? Are we doing our best to care for and cultivate His creation?  Are we worshiping the creation more than the Creator? See Romans 1:18-25
WE NEED GOD’S BLESSING TO _________________US.
Proverbs 10:22- “The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and He adds no trouble to it.”
Genesis 1:22, 28, 5:2, Numbers 6:22-27 & I Chronicles 4:9-10
With His blessing we can be fruitful & fulfilled, without His blessing we experience trouble & heartache.
Is God’s hand of blessing on my life? Do I consistently ask His blessing on my life and others?
GOD DID ALL OF THIS TO ______________US HOW MUCH HE TRULY CARES & SO WE WOULD SEEK HIM.  Zephaniah 3:17, Acts 17:24-30, & Romans 8:31-39.
His creation is a constant reminder of how crazy our Creator really is about us! Am I receiving and sharing His love.  Since God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 2:4 teaches us that the goodness of God should lead us to repentance.

2.    GOD GIVES US A DESCRIPTION OF WHAT RESPECT IS

WHETHER WE ARE MARRIED OR SINGLE—GOD ASKS OF US “ARE YOU HONORING ME BY HONORING MARRIAGE?
He wants us to honor Him with His __________________.

Proverbs 3:9– “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.”

AM I HONORING GOD WITH THE MONEY HE GIVES ME? AM I A GENEROUS GIVER OR A SELFISH SPENDER?
3.    GOD DELIGHTS IN THOSE WHO RESPECT HIM—Malachi 3:13-4:2
He honors, holds dear, and ______________those who honor Him!
I Samuel 2:30- “Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.”
DO I WANT TO EXPERIENCE A SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD? DO I WANT TO EXPERIENCE REAL PEACE AND PURPOSE IN MY LIFE? THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE—LIVE TO HONOR AND GIVE GOD MY BEST AND HE WILL TAKE CARE OF THE REST!

 

ANSWERS:  MAGNIFY, MOTIVES, MARRIAGES, MONEY, & MENDS

“The Scarlet Thread of the Savior Woven Throughout Scripture.” (Saturday July 7th)   
Key Verse:Luke 24:27- “And beginning with Moses and all the prophets, He explained to them what was said in the Scriptures concerning Himself.”   
Genesis 3:15, 12:1-3The Savior is promised as a coming deliverer and the seed of Abraham.
Exodus 12– Jesus is foreseen in the Passover lamb–(I Corinthians 5:7).
Leviticus– The sacrificial system is a type of Christ. Jesus is the true lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29)
Numbers 21:4-8–The bronze snake is a type of Christ–cf. John 3:14-15
Deuteronomy 18:15– Jesus is the prophet who is greater than Moses. And we will do well to listen to Him– see Matthew 3:16-17, 17:1-5.
Ruth– Boaz and Ruth are a picture of Christ being married to the Church. They are also in the messianic line of Christ (the great grandparents of King David—see Matthew 1:5-6.
II Samuel 7–God promises David that a descendant of his would rule forever— see Luke 1:26-33.
Psalms 16 & 22-predict the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ!
Isaiah has the most messianic promises of Christ’s first and second coming—See Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, chapters 11, 42 and 53.
Jeremiah 23:5-6-Jesus is predicted as the righteous branch of David who will be king and Israel will be saved during his 1000 year reign on earth— compare Romans 11:25-27.
Daniel 7:9-14, 9:20-27– predict his death on the cross and his future reign over all kingdoms.
Jonah is a type of Christ’s resurrection— see Matthew 12:38-40.
Micah 5:2– predicted the birthplace of Christ as Bethlehem
Zechariah 9:9-10– predicts Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Chapters 12-14 describe his protection of Israel in the end times!

Malachi 3:1-3– predicts the coming of John the Baptist and Christ be the refiner’s fire.

 POINT TO PONDER: JESUS CHRIST IS THE CENTRAL FIGURE IN BIBLICAL REVELATION. SCRIPTURE IS THE TELESCOPE THAT HELPS US SEE OUR SAVIOR! (READ JOHN 5:39-40)
 
THE GREATEST POWER FOR OUR PRESENT HOUR
(Sunday July 8th) KEY VERSE: Zechariah 4:6- “Not by might nor by power, but by
 My Spirit, says the Lord Almighty.”
1.    THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
No one can be ____________apart from the convicting and converting power of the Holy Spirit. See Ephesians 2:1-5.  I Corinthians 2:9-10- “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him, but God has revealed it to us by His Spirit.”
No one can be truly set free from the ___________________of sin apart from the Holy Spirit. See Romans 7:14-25, 8:5-14.  Romans 8:2- “Through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”
No one can have real _________________in serving the Lord apart from the Holy Spirit.
II Timothy 1:7- “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”  The Holy Spirit will give us power, purpose, persuasion, persistence in prayer and peace no matter what we face in life!  See Romans 8:14-16, 26-27 & Romans 15:13 Jim Cymbala in his book “Fresh Power” states, “Vows and promises alone, no matter how sincere, can never overcome  the power of the world, the flesh, and the devil.” 
2.   THE INTIMATE AND IMPACTING RELATIONSHIP WE CAN HAVE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
When we invite Jesus Christ into our heart, the Holy Spirit comes to permanently__________us!
See John 7:37-39, 14:16-18, Ephesians 1:13-14
We must not ______________Him by relying more on our personalities, plans, and programs– Zechariah 4:6 & John 6:63
We must learn to ______________Him to invade every area of our lives!
See Luke 11:13, Galatians 5:16-26 & Ephesians 5:18
Am I self-driven or Spirit-led? Do I quench, grieve, or hinder the Holy Spirit in any way? Will I let Him fill me every day?

KEYS TO STUDYING GOD’S WORD (Saturday June 30th)
1.  STUDY WITH A SENSE OF _____________________________.
Psalm 119:18— “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things  in your law.”
Psalm 119:8-24,105,165, I Thessalonians 2:13 & Hebrews 4:12.  What do I expect when I study God’s Word?
2.  STUDY WITH THE GOAL OF __________________________. 
Communion with God and spending time with Him is the highest goal of Bible study—Psalm 119:57-72, Luke 10:38-42 & John 5:38-40.  Is my goal to know about Him or to really know Him in
a close & personal way? Do I view the Bible as God’s love letter to me?
3.  STUDY DEPENDING ON THE HOLY SPIRIT FOR _________________________.
Psalm 119:25-40, I Corinthians 2:9-14 & John 16:13-15.  Who better than the Author of the Bible to help us understand it! Do we seek His help in a humble way? Do I realize how utterly dependent I am on Him to learn His high & holy ways?
4.  STUDY USING THE METHODS OF____________________AND MEDITATION.
Psalm 119:97— “Oh how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long!”
Psalm 119:147-148, Joshua 1:8, Acts 17:11, & 2 Timothy 3:15-17.  Ask good investigative questions like: Who wrote this book?  Who are the intended readers? Why was the letter originally written? What is the context & culture of the passage? What are the repeated words, themes or ideas in the book or passage of study?
     Thomas Watson said “The heart is hard & the memory slippery, & without meditation all is lost; meditation imprints & fashions a truth in the mind. Without meditation the truths we know will never affect our hearts.”
5.  THE MAIN GOAL OF BIBLE STUDY IS__________________.
Psalm 119:161-176, John 8:31-32 & James 1:21-27
G– What do I learn about God and my relationship with Him?
O—What do I need to do in my relationships with others?
D– What sins do I really need to deal with in my life?
Am I a doer of the word or just a hearer only?

GOD CHANGE ME FROM A COMPLACENT CHRISTIAN TO A CONTAGIOUS ONE!  TEXT: THE BOOK OF HAGGAI (Sunday July 1st)
1. GOD CARES ENOUGH TO CONFRONT US ABOUT OUR COMFORTABLE AND ______________________LIVING.  See Haggai 1:1-11 and Revelation 3:14-20.
Revelation 3:19- “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.
DO I REALIZE IT MAKES THE LORD SICK WHEN I GROW COMPLACENT AND COMFORTABLE IN MY CHRISTIANITY? 
2. GOD CALLS US TO ______________________OUR WAYS!
Four times in this little book God says to his people—“Give careful thought to your ways.” See 1:5,7, 2:15,18.  Lamentations 3:40- “Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
*AM I REALLY A CHRISTIAN? DOES CHRIST LIVE IN MY HEART?
*AM I SELF-SEEKING OR CHRIST-CENTERED IN MY ACTIONS?
*WHAT DOES HOW I SPEND MY TIME REVEAL ABOUT MY PRIORITES? AM I TRULY SEEKING HIS KINGDOM FIRST?
*WHAT DOES MY CHECKBOOK REVEAL ABOUT ME?
*IF GOD WERE TO EVALUATE MY LIFE TODAY—WHAT WOULD HE SAY?
3. GOD CAN CHANGE US INTO COURAGEOUS AND ________________CHRISTIANS!
Haggai 1:14- “So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the
whole remnant of the people. They came and began the work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God.” 
See 2:1-9 and compare with Jeremiah 33:3 & John 11:40,14:12
*IF WE ARE WILLING TO BELIEVE AND OBEY—GOD CAN DO AMAZINGTHINGS IN HIS INCREDIBLE WAY!
*ASK GOD TO CHANGE YOU INTO A COURAGEOUS AND CONTAGIOUS CHRISTIAN!
*ASK HIM TO LIGHT A FIRE IN YOUR SOUL FOR HIS PURPOSES!

BACK TO THE BIBLE (Saturday June 22nd)
KEY VERSE: PROVERBS 30:5- “EVERY WORD OF GOD IS FLAWLESS; HE IS A SHIELD TO THOSE WHO TAKE REFUGE IN HIM.
 1.   THE INFALLIBILITY OF THE BIBLE
 II Timothy 3:16-17- “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
The Bible’s ______________is divinely inspired and therefore it is trustworthy and infallible.
Charles Spurgeon said- “The Bible must have been written by our Creator, for nobody but the Lord who created men could know so much about them. This volume reveals the secrets of all hearts. It unveils our private thoughts. If I did not believe in the infallibility of Scripture-the absolute infallibility of it from cover to cover, I would never enter this pulpit again!”
Psalm 119:138,140- “Your decrees are perfect; they are entirely worthy of our trust. Your promises have been thoroughly tested; that is why I love them so much.”
The Bible’s _____________________________is backed up by history and human experience.
I Kings 8:56- “Praise be to the Lord, who has given rest to his people Israel just as he has promised. Not one word has failed of all the good promises he gave through his servant Moses.”  Matthew 5:18- Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” Look up Luke 24:25-27, 44-47.  The unity of Scripture, fulfilled prophecies, archeological discoveries, many ancient manuscripts and innumerable testimonies of transformed lives all point to a Book that is infallible and indestructible!  W.F. Albright the great Archeologist concluded, “The Bible towers in content above all earlier religious literature.”
  2.   THE IMPORTANCE OF THE BIBLE
  It is how God ___________________________to us.
Hebrews 1:1-2- “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days has spoken to us by his Son.” Look up Psalm 19.
It is the chief tool God uses to _________________people to Christ.
II Timothy 3:15- “From infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.” See Colossians 1:3-6.
Its transforming power can change the____________________of God’s children.
John 8:31-32- “If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” See I Peter 2:1-2, Psalm 119:28-32
It is the only reliable chart to keep the church and the Christian on________________.
Psalm 119:105- “Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.” See II Timothy 2:14-19, 3:16-17.  Abraham Lincoln said, “This great book is the best gift God ever gave to man. But for it we could not know right from wrong.”
3.   HOW WE SHOULD INTERACT WITH THE BIBLE
First, we should ____________and review it regularly.
Job 23:10- “I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.”  Psalm 119:97- “Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long.” See Luke 10:38-42.
Next, we should ________________ to its message readily.
James 1:21-22- “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive
yourselves. Do what it says!”
Finally, we must _____________its message of hope to others relationally.
Philippians 4:9- “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me-put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”  See Romans 1:16 & 10:17
Closing Quote: “The Bible that is falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.”

The god who is crazy about us! (Sunday June 23rd)
Key Verse: Zephaniah 3:17— “The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”
 1. THE PROMISE OF HIS ________________________ PRESENCE.
“The Lord your God is with you…”  The angels are with us, God’s family is with us, but best
of all—God is with us! Cf. Psalm 23, 139 & Hebrews 13:5-6.  We must learn to pursue His presence as well as practice his presence. Learn to Invite Him into all you do.  How often in a typical day are you aware of His presence?  Read Psalm 16:8 and make it your intentional prayer!
 2. THE PROMISE OF HIS _____________________________ ASSISTANCE.
“He is mighty to save…” He alone can save and keep you. He will not fail you,
forsake you or forget about you.
Jude 24— “To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy.”
See Isaiah 40:28-31, Jeremiah 32:27 & Ephesians 1:15-22.  God’s hand is never too short to reach you & His arms never grow tired of carrying you! Is anything too hard for Him?
3. THE PROMISE OF HIS_____________________________LOVE THAT TAKES GREAT PLEASURE IN US.  
“He will take great delight in you…”  God not only desires us but greatly delights in us!
Isaiah 49:16— “See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.”  We are enveloped in His love and engraved upon His heart.“He will quiet you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” Cf. John 10:27-30 & Romans 8:31-39.  Am I trying to earn God’s love or am I learning to rest in and rejoice in it?  Am I a channel of this powerful love to lost & lonely people?  See Matthew 9:35-38
