DON’T COMPLAIN– IT DISHONORS HIS HOLY NAME
Philippians 2:14— “Do everything without complaining or arguing.” (Sat June 27th)
I. COMPLAINING IS A COMMON YET VERY________________________AND CONTAGIOUS PROBLEM WITH HUMAN BEINGS!  Numbers 14:27— “How long will this wicked community grumble against me?”  Exodus 15:22-16:3, Numbers 11:1-10, 14:1-4, 21:4-9
The Greek word for complaining means to grumble and murmur in a low tone of voice.  Human nature tends to be more negative, critical and full of complaints. Negativity is cancer to our spirit!
2. COMPLAINING IS A SLAM ON GOD’S _____________________AND REALLY IS TREATING HIM WITH CONTEMPT!  Numbers 14:11— “How long will these people treat me with contempt?”  Numbers 14:26-38, 21:4-5
Do we realize we are slandering God’s Holy Name when we complain and are critical? Can we do a better job of things?  When we complain we are buying into Satan’s lie that God is somehow holding out on us! When we complain we are throwing dirt in God’s face and are denying His great grace.
Complaining also hinders our testimony to others– see Philippians 2:14-16
3. JESUS CHRIST CAN _______________US FROM CRANKY PEOPLE INTO CONTENTED CHRISTIANS.  Philippians 2:13— “For it is God who is at work in you to will and to act according to His good purpose.” Philippians 4:4-13, I Timothy 6:6-10, & Hebrews 12:15
Daily we have a choice to rejoice. What can’t be cured can be endured!  Why complain when we can consistently call on and praise His dear name?  Do I have stinking thinking or Scripture fueled and Spirit filled thinking?  See Ephesians 5:18-20 & Colossians 3:16-17.  God calls us as believers to be Spirit led and Scripture fed!!!
CUTE QUOTE TO CONSIDER: Mark Twain said, “Don’t complain and talk about all your problems—80 percent of people don’t care; the other 20 percent will think you deserve them.”
ANSWERS: CANCEROUS, CHARACTER, & CHANGE.

WHY ALL THIS EVIL AND SUFFERING? (Sun June 28th)
John 9:2— “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents that he was born blind?”
1. MANY TIMES _________________IS THE CAUSE OF SUFFERING!
I Peter 5:8— “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”  John 8:44, 10:10, Ephesians 6:10-18 & Revelation 12:7-12
Our enemy is strong, slanderous and sneaky. One of the biggest tricks is to get people to believe he isn’t real. Satan constantly tries to get us to doubt God’s Word, worth and ways.  We have the strength of God’s presence, the shield of His protection, the sword of His promises & the support of His people.
Am I using His armor? Am I standing in the truth that sets us free?
2. OFTEN IT IS OUR ______________________CHOICES!
John 5:14— “Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”  John 8:34, Romans 2:8-9, 3:10-12,16-17, 7:21-25
Charles Spurgeon said “The smallest sin that ever creeps into your heart is a robber seeking to kill and destroy. It is deadly poison to your spirit. It injures your faith, withers up your peace, weakens you in prayer and prevents your example from being beneficial to others.”  If we are honest, we are often our own worst enemy!!
3. NO MATTER THE REASON FOR SUFFERING, GOD ALLOWS IT TO ______________HIS GLORY, POWER AND GOODNESS!
John 9:3— “This happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.”
Romans 8:28— “We know that God causes all things to work for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.”  John 11:40, Acts 16, Romans 8:18, Ephesians 2:10, James 1:2-5
God’s Word teaches us to welcome trials not as foes but as friends.  God allows suffering to grow our faith, compassion & character.  Someone said, “Adversity is God’s University.”  Every miracle was preceded by some impossible situation.  Don’t look at the mountain. Instead look at the mountain mover!  Jim Cymbala said “God does His most stunning work when things seem hopeless. Wherever there is pain, suffering and desperation, Jesus is.”
ANSWERS: SATAN, SINFUL & SHOW.

IT DOESN’T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS! (Sat June 20th)
Romans 8:18-39
1.  GOD HAS A GREAT _________________________FOR OUR LIVES- verses 18-30.
Romans 8:28-29- “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose. For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son…”
·       All of our sufferings, ups and downs in life God uses as tools to help transform us into the likeness of His Holy Son. See Romans 5:3-5 & James 1:2-5
·        It is not our comfort that God is most concerned about, but whether we are becoming more Christ-like in our character. Are we more like Jesus today than a year or two ago?
·       Am I growing in life or groaning in life? Do I see the big picture of His plan?
2.  GOD HAS US IN A ________________________PLACE OF FAVOR- verses 31-39.
Romans 8:31-32- “What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He did not even spare His own Son but offered Him up for us all. How will He not also with Him grant us everything?”
·       God will always be for us, never against us! He is our greatest encourager in life!
·       God will always fight for us in prayer- see verses 26-27, & 34. How often do we remember that Christ intercedes for us 24/7? He is constantly answering Satan’s accusations and praying for our unity and that our faith will not fail-see I John 2:1-2, Luke 22:31-32 & John 17:9-11,20-26.
·       Charles Spurgeon said “Christ prays for you when you do not pray for yourselves. And when under a sense of sin, you dare not lift so much as your eyes toward heaven, He is pleading for you. And when you cannot plead, when the language of supplication seems to blister your lips because you feel yourself to be so unworthy, He still pleads for you. Oh, what encouragement this ought to give you.”
·       God will always have a never-failing love for us- verses 35-39. See also Eph 3:14-21 & Titus 3:3-8.
·       God’s love is wider, deeper, longer and higher than we can possibly imagine. His love alone never fails or falters for us. He is utterly passionate about us and for us! Do we rest in His love? Do we fully rely on it in the hard times? Are we letting it spill over from us to others who so desperately need it as well?
ANSWERS: PURPOSE & PERMANENT

TRUE GREATNESS IN THE EYES OF GOD (Sun June 21st)
1. MOSES WAS A HUMBLE _____________OF GOD.
Numbers 12:3— “Now the man Moses was a very humble man, more than anyone else on the face of the earth.” Joshua 1:1-2, Micah 6:8, Matthew 20:20-28, Acts 9:1-15
Man’s view of greatness is in great contrast with God’s.  Man focuses on power, God on submission.
Man focuses on freedom, God on responsibility. Man focuses on gain, God on giving!
  • Why and how do I serve God and others? Hebrews 11:24-26
  • Who is near and most in need?
2. MOSES HAD A VERY _______________RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD!

  • Do I have a passion to know the Lord like this? If not, why not? What am I doing to cultivate my walk with the Lord?  It’s not what you know, but Who you know!
3. MOSES HAD ________________POWER.
Hebrews 11:27— “By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.”  II Timothy 2:3— “Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”  Numbers 11:1-3, 12:1-13, 14:1-5, 21:4-7.
Moses endured all sorts of difficulties with people, pressure, persecution, and everyday problems. Yet he persisted!
  • How easily do I give up? It is always too soon to quit!!!
The Christian life is a long-distance race not a sprint. Remember to keep your chin up and your knees down!
4.  MOSES ______________OF OUR SAVIOR & EVEN SAW HIM ON THE MOUNT OF TRANSFIGURATION!
Deuteronomy 18:15— “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must listen to Him.”  Matt 17:1-8, Luke 24:44-47, Acts 3:17-26, 4:12
  • Am I pointing others to the only One who truly saves?
  • Who do others see– me or the Master? Do I lift the Lord up with my life and lips?

·       The Holy Spirit gives us overcoming power to deal with our sin nature, the world system, and the devil and his demonic army.
·       He helps us in our walk, worship, and in our witness-see Galatians 5:22-23, John 4:23, & Acts 1:8.

·       John Piper said, “Behind most wrong living is wrong thinking.”

·       Are my prayers Spirit-led and Scripture-fed? Cf. Ephesians 5:18-19 & Colossians 3:16-17.
3.      WE ARE GOD’S SPECIAL AND _________________________CHILDREN- Verses 14-17

Zephaniah 3:17
·       He has blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ- see Ephesians 1:3 & II Peter 1:3-4.

ANSWERS: TREMENDOUS, THINKING, & TREASURED.

THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!
JOHN 14:1-6 (Sun June 14th)
I.    HEAVEN IS A _____________________PLACE!
Revelation 7:9- “After this I looked and there before me was a multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb.” See Matthew 8:11, Hebrews 12:1-2, & Revelation 21:15-21.
Can you imagine how spacious Heaven is if myriads of angels & multitudes of people from all of history will hang out in our Father’s house?
II.   HEAVEN IS A ______________________PLACE!
Revelation 21:4- “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. There will no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Philippians 3:20-21, Revelation 4-5, 14:13, 21 & 22
We will worship, serve, fellowship, be rewarded and even rest!  Can you imagine living forever in a perfect place with no more Satan, sin, sickness & suffering?  We will have new bodies, new buddies, new blessings, no burdens and no more bondage!
III. HEAVEN IS THE ______________________PLACE!
John 14:6- “Jesus said, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Matthew 7:21-23, Luke 18:17 & Revelation 20:11-15
Not just anyone gets into the Father’s house. It is not the religious, but the humble, child-like ones who have a relationship with Christ.  Only those whose names are in the Lamb’s book of life are there!
IV. HEAVEN SHOULD BE THE MOST _____________________PLACE TO US!
Colossians 3:1- “Since you have been raised to the new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of Heaven…” (NLT) Philippians 1:21-26, 3:20 & II Timothy 4:7-8
When you think in light of eternity, your values will change. Every act of our lives strikes some chord that will vibrate in eternity.  C.S. Lewis said, “Aim at Heaven & and you get earth thrown in; aim at earth and you will get neither.”  Am I heavenly minded enough to be truly earthly good?
ANSWERS: SPACIOUS, SPECIAL, SAVIOR'S, & SIGNIFICANT.

·  Sin deceives us and hardens our hearts to God and others. All we need to do is look in the mirror and watch a little TV to see the reality of mankind’s total depravity!
·  No matter how hard we may try, we will never defeat this enemy within in our own strength. The words “I, me, myself are used over 30 times in Romans 7!

·  We can only truly live dynamic and impactful lives when we are fully surrendered.
·  Henry Drummond said “Sin is a ceaseless, undying power in our life. A ceaseless undying power must come against it. And there is only one such power in the universe- only One, which has a chance against sin: The power of the living Christ.”
